The Qingdao World Expo City Center, a project that took over a year to complete, is a testament to the power of patience and creativity. The design team drew inspiration from the city itself, incorporating elements of architecture and the characteristics of the Qingdao ocean into the interior. The result is a space that reflects the fluidity of ocean waves, complete with a unique lamp modeling in the form of a golden fish.
What sets this design apart is the concept of a city living room. The designers have successfully combined modern style with a humanistic temperament, creating a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The conference room area showcases Chinese traditional culture, while ensuring advanced design concepts and functionality.
The realization of this design was no small feat. The entire building is shaped by irregular silk streamline, reminiscent of the elegant shape of a silk belt. This is supplemented by a large-span steel structure, making the construction a true architectural marvel. The construction area of the whole complex project is 1420,000 square feet, including a conference center construction area of 430,000 square feet, and Westin construction area of 300,000 square feet.
The design team, led by Chief Designers Youneng You, Guangjun Zhao, and Jian Huang, faced several challenges during the project. The owner's vision was to build a coastal international expo city that was ahead of Northeast Asia in terms of scale, carrying capacity, supporting functions, and technological level. The team had to ensure that the design met the needs of various large-scale high-end conferences and exhibitions.
Their efforts were not in vain. The Qingdao World Expo City Center was awarded Platinum in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that showcase unmatched professionalism, genius, and contribute to societal wellbeing. Truly, the Qingdao World Expo City Center is a defining aesthetic of an era.
In conclusion, the Qingdao World Expo City Center is a testament to the power of design and creativity. It is a space that not only meets the functional needs of its users but also provides a visually stunning experience. It is a shining example of how design can be used to create spaces that are both beautiful and functional, contributing to the betterment of society.
